If you have ever opened Google Search Console and seen the status "Crawled - currently not indexed" sitting next to your blog posts or pages, you know that sinking feeling. That distinction matters because it tells you where the problem lives. It is not a technical crawling issue. It is a content quality or relevance issue, at least in Google's eyes.
Why Does Google Crawl Without Indexing?
This is the part most bloggers get wrong. They assume something is broken on their site. Sometimes that is true, but more often the real issue is that Google has a limited crawl budget and a high standard for what deserves a place in the index.
Google processes billions of pages across the web. It cannot index everything, and it uses quality signals to decide what makes the cut. When it crawls your page and finds thin content, duplicate text, slow loading speeds, weak internal linking, or content that closely resembles something it already indexed, it will often leave that page out of the index for now.
The word "currently" in that status is actually a signal of hope. It means Google is not permanently excluding your page. It may revisit and reconsider if the signals improve.
Common Reasons Your Pages Get This Status
1. Thin or Low-Quality Content
This is the number one reason, and it is the one bloggers least want to hear. If a post is under 500 words, covers a topic too superficially, lacks original insight, or reads like it was written just to target a keyword, Google's quality systems are likely to flag it.
Google has been very clear about this through its helpful content guidance. Content needs to demonstrate real experience and expertise, not just regurgitate what is already out there. If your post on a given topic does not say anything new or useful, Google may crawl it and decide the web does not need another version of it.
I had this happen with a few early posts on my blog. They were short, they hit the keyword, but they did not go deep enough. Once I went back and expanded them with personal experience, examples, and more useful detail, the indexing issue resolved within a few weeks.
2. Duplicate or Near-Duplicate Content
If you have multiple pages covering the same topic, or if your content closely mirrors something already indexed elsewhere, Google will often choose to index only the version it considers the most authoritative. The others may sit in that "crawled but not indexed" bucket indefinitely.
This is a common problem on blogs that syndicate content, republish posts from other sites, or churn out slightly different versions of the same article. Even within your own site, having tag pages, category pages, and archive pages with overlapping content can trigger this issue.

Think of internal links as votes of confidence from your own site. When other posts link to a new page, they are telling Google that the new page is worth visiting and considering. Without those links, Google has little reason to treat the page as important.

If your site has a large number of low-quality URLs, such as tag pages, label archives, search result pages, or paginated pages, they can eat into your crawl budget without contributing to indexing. This leaves less room for Googlebot to crawl your actual content pages.

Step 1: Audit the Content Quality
Open every affected post and ask yourself honestly: does this content genuinely help the reader? Does it say something that is not already said better elsewhere? Is it comprehensive enough to answer the question fully?
If the answer to any of those questions is no, the content needs work before you do anything else. Expand thin posts with more depth, personal experience, examples, and original insights. Remove or consolidate posts that are too similar to each other. Make sure every post earns its place in the index by being genuinely useful.

Step 2: Strengthen Your Internal Linking
Go through your existing published posts and look for natural opportunities to link to the pages that are not indexed. Use descriptive anchor text that reflects what the linked page is about. Avoid generic phrases like "click here."
Also make sure that your new posts are linked to from your homepage or category pages where possible. A post that exists in isolation on your blog will always struggle more than one that is well-connected to the rest of your content.

This tells Google you believe the page is ready to be reconsidered. It does not guarantee indexing, but it does prompt a re-crawl sooner than waiting for Google to find its way back on its own.
Do not spam this feature. Only request indexing after you have actually made meaningful improvements to the page. Requesting indexing repeatedly on the same low-quality page will not produce different results.
Step 4: Reduce Low-Quality URLs on Your Site
If your site has a lot of thin pages, consider using noindex tags on content that does not add value. This includes tag pages, label archive pages on Blogger, search result pages, and any duplicate content.

Use the URL Inspection tool to look for any technical blockers. Check whether the page is being served correctly, whether there are redirect issues, and whether the canonical tag is pointing to the correct URL.

Publish Less, Publish Better
If you are publishing five posts a week and most of them are thin, slow down. Publish two posts a week that are genuinely comprehensive and useful. Quality will always beat quantity when it comes to Google's indexing decisions.
Every post you publish on your blog contributes to Google's overall assessment of your site's quality. A handful of poor-quality posts can drag down the perceived quality of the entire domain, making it harder for your good posts to get indexed too.
Plan Internal Links Before Publishing
